• Staging server setup

This setup includes migrating site users and customers, and creating a Basecamp project for the purpose of managing the individual steps and processes in each project.

• Content migration

We migrate content and plugins from the live site into the staging site. URL structure, categories, and tags are all properly applied as defined from the information architecture.

• Image optimization

We optimize all images for the website. This process includes setting max image sizes of 2048 pixels wide, EXIF optimization with lossless compression, and creation of WebP images.

• Plugin review

We review the current plugins running on the website, and if they are not up to par with our performance standards, we recommend alternate versions to use.

• Design wireframes

The website is designed based upon the current site and notes provided during our initial discussions. The “look and feel” of the website is updated to modern standards. Projects often include a brand redesign.

• Responsive design

This helps visitors achieve their goals when they visit
the website, no matter what type of device they are using. Three critical components are required for today’s mobile responsive sites: they load quickly, the clickable elements aren’t too close together, and the text isn’t too small.

• Mai Theme Engine

I create a custom design, using the powerful Mai Theme Engine. Mai Theme is a collection of high-performance themes built by BizBudding that are currently powering some of the most high-traffic websites on the Internet. The engine is built on WordPress and the Genesis Framework.

• Design iteration

Sketch and design approvals are required elements of this phase. I apply the design sketches to each content type for final approval (i.e. blog page, archive page, home page, content page).
